A GLORIOUS PARTNERSHIP! INTRODUCING WILLIE AND JULIA |
Julia
Robinson and Willie are frequently seen at local horse events and
are memorable due to their flashy, picturesque performance.
Jalapeno Willie was foaled in Tucson in March of '93. He is a registered American Saddlebred gelding by her stallion M'Lord Chancellor and a leased mare. Julia broke and trained Willie herself. He matured at 16.1 hands and is the "nice- tempered horse" that Julia was hoping for. Willie enjoys showing as "long as it's not the A shows in Phoenix, where he and I are both a nervous wreck!" We have both enjoyed parading, but it may be a thing of the past as the staging areas locally have become dangerous. |
We love the shows at the J-6 Equestrian Center where we are also trying soccer. We are enjoying trail-riding and the companionship of the delightful people and horses as well as riding and driving at home. When asked what events were remarkable in defining the course of her journey as a horsewoman, Julia shared the following. "I was always "horsecrazy" and took riding lessons in England. Much later, after several challenging horses which made my daughter an excellent rider, I purchased a beautifuly bred mare, Starheart's Glory Be, a wild little thing who made me a rider." |
I organized an American Saddlebred parade group with the aim of riding in the Rose Parade in Pasadena, which we managed to do twice, in 1986 and 1988, and once in the Hollywood Parade, with countless parades in between in which we almost always won Best Mounted Group. For many years I was a member of the American Saddlebred Horse Association and was appointed to the Pleasure Horse Committee on the national level. I enjoyed attending the annual conventions in Lexington, Kentucky and learned and contributed a great deal in the decade or so of my tenure. I lived in Tucson from 1989 to 2000 and moved to the area after my father and stepmother had died because my old neighborhood was getting too "gentrified" and overbuilt. After a long search, I found this property, which I consider perfect for me and the horses with its grassy pasture, rustic barn, and modest but well designed house. Apart from my daily horse chores
and riding, driving, and exercising the horses, I'm a docent at
the Tucson Museum of Art and also attend the Tucson Symphony Orchestra
concerts." |
