"MAKING ALL THE PIECES COME TOGETHER"

When asked the highlight of doing a restoration, Bob Baker replied, "It's making all the pieces come together."

The classic pictured above is described as a "truckster" because it is a combination of a truck and a car. It is titled as a 1931 with parts from both 1931 and 1936 Fords. Many of the parts had to be hand made.

Since its recent completion, the green classic has missed several opportunities for being on display due to rain --- its roof is wooden! Bob and his wife Alana, however, have enjoyed driving it to breakfast and out for ice cream.

The Baker's collection also includes a '36 Chevy and several projects which Bob says, "I may or may not get around to finishing".

Bob and Alana own and have operated Mescal Auto, formerly Advanced Auto, for over eight years. Before coming to the area, they owned and operated Green Valley Auto Service for almost 20 years ("back when Green Valley was a small town").

After selling the business, they ranched in the Santa Rita Mountains for ten years. Bob then decided he wanted to get back into the auto industry so they sold the ranch and found another area with "the small town atmosphere" which they like.

When not manning the business, Bob pursues his interest in flying, Alana rides her horse, and they both enjoy finding a country-western dance floor!
